LP Bach

Composer - Johann Sebastian Bach

Duration: 1 lesson

The following games are used for this exercise: the Museum, the composer Bach and the Quiz at the television studio.

The pupils will achieve the following skills:

"They will become acquainted with the life of composer Bach (1685-1750)

"They will become acquainted with the music composed by Bach

Approach

The pupils must get to know Bach on their own by reading about him and listening to Air, composed by Bach, at the Museum behind his portrait. The pupils must also listen to Bach talking about this life. The pupils will find Bach in town behind the cinema.

Furthermore, the pupils must read the texts about composers. The texts can be found by clicking on the music stand with all the notes.

In the Quiz, they must answer questions about Bach. All questions deal with Bach.

If the pupils have made too many mistakes in the subgames, they can always return to the museum and read about/listen to everything again.

Launch the activity by writing on the blackboard:

"Log on to www.themusicgame.net. Go to the Museum and hear what the custodian has to say".

Instructions for the pupils

The custodian's speech

"Hello. It's my lucky day. Bach has asked me several times if I would drop by and listen to him talking about his life. And I really want to, but I'm so busy that I haven't had the chance to drop by yet. Could you visit him and listen to him talking about his life? I'd really appreciate it.

But it's a good idea to read about him before you go. His portrait is hanging here at the museum and if you click on it, you can read a lot about him.

Bach usually hangs out behind the cinema. Perhaps you'll find him there. I must get on with my work. An entire class is visiting us later today. Don't forget to read my note on the notice board. See you and thank you again for your help. Bye….Oh, I forgot to tell you that I have it on good authority that they've a quiz about Bach today. So you should have ample opportunities to earn some money. Good luck! … One more thing. Don't forget to read about the composers. Just click on the music stand with all the notes. See you!"

The custodian's note

Read about the composer Johann Sebastian Bach. You will find the texts by clicking on his portrait. Also click on the music stand with all the notes. Here, you can find out what makes a composer.

Go to the Quiz. I am pretty sure that they have a quiz about Bach today so you will have ample opportunities to earn some money.
