The Viennese Classic period: The mask with the hat

The Romantic period: The quill pen, ink and a rose

The Modern Classic period: The computer

The objects used in the game Object Finder are placed all over town and refer to the different time periods.

The Baroque period:the binoculars, the microscope, the mechanical calculator and the thermometer.

The Viennese Classic

period: the air balloon, the army missiles, the vaccine against smallpox and the steam engine

The Romantic period:the train, the photograph, electricity, the can, dynamite, the telephone and the car

The Modern Classic

period:the cassette tape, the CD, the airship, the aeroplane, the vaccum cleaner, the tea bag and cornflakes

If the pupils have made too many mistakes in the subgames, they can always return to the museum and read about/listen to everything again.

Launch the activity by writing on the blackboard:

"Log on to www.themusicgame.net. Go to the museum and hear what the custodian has to say."

Instructions for the pupils

The custodian's speech

"Hello there. It's so nice to see you. On my way to work today, I noticed that the mayor has been hiding different objects all over town. She loves doing that. I don't know how she finds the time to do it but she does. Oh, I wish I had the time to do it. Well, never mind. Today will be an interesting day. The chess club will pay us a visit. They want to learn more about the different time periods in the history of music. The other day, Henry insisted that the binoculars were invented during the Modern Classic period. Ha ha. So now, I've invited them over for a short presentation. Later on, they'll play a game that the mayor has started. We're in luck because she's decided to play the game Object Finder today. You should join them and earn some money. It's very easy. When you find an object, pick it up and return it to the Museum and place it in the right time period - I mean the time period when the object was invented. But first. you ought to read about the different time periods. You can find the different time periods by the wig and the mask with the hat. Just click on them. Also click on the pedestal with the quill pen, ink and a rose. Don't forget to click on the computer as well. Oh, listen to me talking.. I must get on with my work - the chess club is waiting. Good luck with the game today. See you!"

The custodian's note
