When you play an instrument, you can play it soft (softly) or with force (forcefully).

When you play softly, you play quietly. It is difficult to hear far away. In the symphony orchestras, we call it piano.
The clarinet and the strings play most softly in the symphony orchestra.

When you play more forcefully, the music is loud and easy to hear. In the symphony orchestras, we call it fortissimo.
The trumpet, the trombone and the percussion instruments play most forcefully in the symphony orchestra.
